There is no single symptom pattern that reliably distinguishes cardiovascular disease in men from women. The absence of classic chest pain does not mean the heart is not the cause. For this reason, we encourage patients—particularly those with cardiovascular risk factors—not to dismiss a new, unexplained, persistent, or concerning symptom, even if it does not sound like a typical heart problem.
